The Resident's of Mortal Kombat's NetherRealm-Jackson

Within the universe of Mortal Kombat, several characters closely resemble demons and demonic figures, especially those who originate from the NetherRealm (the game’s equivalent of hell), such as Scorpion and Noob Saibot. Both characters have traits that directly correlate to elements typically associated with the Devil.

When looking at Scorpion, one can see the more violent and aggressive aspects of the Devil. The character is frequently depicted as being associated with flames and hellfire, and is also said to possess the ability to turn his head into a flaming skull. In addition to his flame motif, Scorpion uses a flaming kunai attached to a chain as his primary weapon, which he uses to pull people close to him and then burn them. Within the story of the games, Scorpion kills Sub-Zero, whom he believes murdered Scorpion’s family.  Similar to Scorpion, the Devil is also typically depicted as wielding hellfire and using chains to bind and torture the souls of sinners. The Devil is also sometimes depicted as being called upon to enact vengeance for someone, just as Scorpion is enacting vengeance for himself.

While Scorpion typically embodies the more violent aspects of the Devil, the character of Noob Saibot embodies the typical depiction of the Devil as the opposite of God. Within the story, Noob Saibot is a corrupted counterpart to the other ninjas in the game, which frequently brings him into conflict with the game's protagonists. Almost identically, the Devil is often depicted as the antithesis of God, something that often puts him in conflict with God in many modern stories, just like Noob Saibot is in direct conflict with the ninja he serves as the counterpart to.

In summary, the game of Mortal Kombat heavily features a realm that is an equivalent of Hell, and its residents prominently feature aspects typically associated with the Devil.
